About Us



Chess Federation of Lesotho is the chess governing body in Lesotho which was formed in 2003. The federation received recognition by Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) in 2012 and Lesotho National Olympic Committee in 2014. The federation is affiliated to the world chess governing body, World Chess Federation or Fédération Internationale des Echecs, FIDE and takes part in a number of tournaments globally.

Chess continues to attract significant interest in Lesotho with notable representation in the 9 districts of Lesotho.

Mission

Our mission is to strive to be the first choice sporting code by developing and growing chess and providing technical know-how and support to the growing chess community.

Objectives

  • To promote chess as the recognised sport in Lesotho and a way of life for all Basotho
  • To develop, grow and elevate chess as a sport in Lesotho
  • To provide technical support for all the chess playing community
  • To ensure participation of players by organising and facilitating tournaments locally and internationally.
